If you want the most out of your Toyota you will need to eventually swap your stock low range gears for something deeper. Sumo Gears' 4.7:1 Transfer-case reduction gears are 106% lower than the stock 2.28 found in your crawl-box. This means that at any given RPM you will be able to crawl half as fast with twice as much torque. When you can crawl within the engines power-band you will have better throttle response, smoother steering control, and mountain goat climbing ability.

Sumo Gear 4.7s come with either 21 or 23 spline input gears. 21 spline inputs are a direct replacements in most four-cylinder 1979-1995 Pickups and 4Runners. 23 spline inputs are used in 22RTE Turbo trucks. We recommend upgrading to the stronger 23 spline gears whenever possible, especially when duel cases are being used.

Sumo Gears are cut in Japan from JIS (Japanese International Standard)SCM420 Alloy Steel. This material has been proven in transfer case applications and is used by Toyota in some of their own gears. Many aftermarket gears are forged from inferior steel. The gears are manufactured in Japan, using the latest in gear cutting technology by an O.E. supplier to one of the largest Japanese Automakers.
